Alright, I have just built a new HTPC and am loving it. I am wanting to make a full fledged home theater with all the goodies.

First question, can I get a good high quality HD picture out of a projector? If so, how much am I looking to spend on one?

2. Wanting to keep it as clean as possible, I am thinking of using a wireless transmitter to the projector. Has anyone used these and know the stability of them?

Final question. Is it possible to use a universal remote to choose the movie you want to watch? I was looking at this remote. What I'm wanting is to see the movie covers as icons on the remote, being able to scroll through them and choose the movie I'd like to watch.

The last is probably just my urge for a cool toy to play with but I'd like the ability to do so.

Thanks for any answers you may have.

Hey,

Yes you can find a universal remote. My uncle has transmitters on all is stuff and the system is fabulous. You can choose and watch movies it is pretty cool. Now what type of sound system are you investing in? I would definitely go high end, the quality is really worth the money :-)

Still researching that, but I do plan on going high end.

As for the subwoofers, I'm going to use some my uncle has, can't remember the name of his company, but he's contracted to do theatres for Disney World and high-end theatres, A-1 stuff. He's got a patent on his speaker design, pretty nifty and great lows, you can feel it without only hearing it, :-).

Does that Remote allow you to view your movies and choose which to watch? I currently have a Harmony 670 that works great, just wanting all the goodies for my new Home Theatre. I don't even know if a remote like what I want exists, just hoping it does.

Hey again,

Prontos which are made by Phillips are a GREAT universal remote. They control everything but the set up is quite pricy. There is also a Logitech one but I can't remember the name.

As for speakers that is awesome about your uncle!!! I would kill for that. I you need any extra I would say go with Boston Acoustics or Yamaha. Both hold their sound for years. It also depends on the space that you are working with.

What do you think? Is a pronto what your looking for?

Aloha,
Tara

That Pronto looks like its what I'm looking for. Not a whole lot of documentation on what it does, but from it does say...looks like it does everything. BUT, now I have to get a new AC system, new Audio system for the house, and just about everything else that it can control....gotta have ALL the toys, :-D
