I have been pretty happy with my recent HTPC build. There is still a lot to learn. I have quite a few video files mostly AVI and MKV that after installing and configuring Shark codecs they play sound almost perfectly. I am using my Motherboards S/Pdif out. My AV receiver (Pioneer Elite VSX-82TSX) auto switches the correct audio when the files are played except when watching live TV via Windows Media Center using a Hauppague 1600 Tuner card.

If I manually select the auto button on my remote it will default to Stereo. If I select Dolby it will select Dolby ProLogic Movie or something close to this (not sure on all the abbreviated acronyms)And for the record the sound does sound as good as it should. But if I go to my TV running the same antenna as HTPC the receiver auto switches fine and the LCD panel reads "Dolby".

Is this a common issues? Is this a WMC issue. Do I need to configure something different in Shark Codec config?

Thanks in advance
