Not sure where to post this, but this section seems like a good spot. Im having trouble with my new built HTPC. The issue is my receiver is only seeing 2ch audio. Im using an Ausu M4A78LT-M MOBO. This has integrated HDMI with 8ch audio. My receiver is a Sony HT-SS360. Im running 1 HDMI cable from my pc to my receiver, and the receiver is only seeing 2ch audio. The MOBO also has integrated SPDIF audio out, so i tried using a Toslink cable to the receiver, and same thing, almost. With the toslink cable and using VLC media player, if im watching a move that has has DTS sound, theres and option for A/52 over optical. if this is selected, receiver sees 6ch sound, but this only if the move is DTS sound. Iv looked everywhere for driver updates with no luck.

The other thing im wondering, it seems like when i listen to the rear speakers, the sound coming out of them is different then the sound coming out of the front speakers. Im wondering if the pc is decoding the audio and the receiver is just to dumb and thinks its 2ch audio because there is nothing to decode. But I also know this could also be that the receiver is trying to emulate 6ch sound also. Any help on this topic would be appreciated.
