I visited a friend last weekend and he showed me his new Samsung blu-ray DVD player that has capability for streaming Pandora from his PC. It sounded great. The blu-ray player screen has options for Pandora, Netflix, Blockbuster, and YouTube. I'd like to do that without replacing my new Panasonic blu-ray player with a Samsung just to get the streaming audio/video. What I have in Home Theater includes:

* Samsung 52" HDTV (TOC version) that has Ethernet and USB inputs
* Panasonic blu-ray with SD card slot
* Yamaha RX-V465 A/V receiver (no Ethernet or USB)
* Dish Network 722 DVR

In an office at the opposite end of the house I have:

* Vista 32 quad 4, 3GB RAM PC with Ethernet
* Westcom wireless router
* Wii game console
* Panasonic VHS/DVD recorder with USB that I could move to the home theater but prefer not to

I want to go wireless since there is no way to get an Ethernet cable hookup without lots of exposed cable.

Is there a hardware device that I can hook to the Ethernet port on my TV to get streaming A/V from my computer? Is there another suggestion for doing this? Is my computer powerful enough for streaming HD video?

hello lbeck, Your Pc should be OK , but its been my experience that the router would need to be 'N' wireless and higher speed than 54Mb as this gets less interference and the signal can travel further, But for watching movies I would recommend at least 1 item be connected via cable to your router this could be your PC or your TV, as it does't always work as well as it should,
I over came this by using a plug in ethernet adapter ( its nice and tidy behind the TV on the wall, this system uses your household wiring to carry the signal (closed circuit), This gives fantastic Clarity & Sound , It effectively adds the TV to your network.

I hope this helped.
