I bought this system about 2 years ago. It has gotten worse progressively. The issues is that when I play a DVD movie the back ground sound (music or other noise) is audible however the main sound (main characters speaking) isn't. Although when characters speak I can hear a hum but that's about it. I am a novice at best and when that happened I check the wiring to make sure all the wires are hooked up and sure enough they were. I don't know what to do! Can some body help me?

sounds like your center channel isn't working or isn't on. With a dolby digital sound track almost all of the vocals come out of the center channel. So if it isnt on, you cant hear what they are saying. Make sure you are in like movie mode or autodetect or whatever. And make sure your center channel is turned on.
