thread should be teleported soon to correct section, your close but not quite..lol..

check source video plays ok

check encoding program settings aren't set to increase speed x amount of secs so audio gets out of sync or vice versa, basically recheck all it's settings

try dvdflick or is it autogk if you want avi instead of whatever prog your using or switch to handbrake & make mp4 or mkv instead

when testing create say a 5min-8min avi so you don't have to spend x amount of time only to find it was a waste, you can use dvdshrink to cut the end off or use vobBlanker

ok you better list the following:
Operating system used
program used to encode to avi
is dvd source pal or ntsc
where did dvd come from your rip or download

can't think of anything else you may need to list for better help

It's very unusually to have audio sync issues using AutoGK.

Does the audio sync go out in noticeable steps or does it just happen gradually?

If it's the former than it might be due to breaks in the audio stream on the original DVD, or AutoGK is skipping frames for some reason, but either way it's probably because the DVD wasn't ripped correctly.
If it's the latter it'd be very unusual, but it can possibly be fixed by opening the AVI with VirtualDubMod and adjusting the frame rate. If the frame rate is 23.976 fps, try resaving the AVI with a frame rate of 23.975 or 23.977 fps etc to see if that helps.
