Hi,

I have recently created a .WMV file through Windows Movie Maker. I would like to burn the movie to DVD format and for this task I used Nero (Version 10) to do this. The converstion and burning process did not report any errors. I then play the DVD on my DVD player and the movie plays, however, the image and sound is distorted, not massively but enough to put you off the DVD.

When I play the source file (.WMV) on windows media player it runs through smoothly without any distortion.

Can you please help as I am out of ideas on why this is happening? My thought is something is wrong with the burn/converstion process.

I am not very technical so please excuse my lack of understanding.

Thanking you in advance.

Try another program to convert the file to DVD format.
DVD Flick is free and includes an optional burning step.
On the top menu there is a tab 'Guide', which lists the steps to authoring the disk.

Generally - and this includes Nero - you can save the conversion to the HDD and use your media player to test playback.

If it's satisfactory then you can burn the files to disk.

Thank you I shall try this.

I have also been told that my setting within Movie Maker application may have been incorrect. The bitrate was set to a low standard. I will also change this and give it a go.

Hi

I tried DVD flick and this did not work. My DVD still jumps when I play and the audio is out of sync.

I really dont know what else I can do as I have tried most things.

Any suggestions would be most welcome...

Thanks

DVD Flick saves the output to a folder on the HDD - are these files ok?

The files are ok. When I play the files on computer it works fine (cyberlink DVD). I think the problem maybe with how movie maker application outputs the .WMV file. Somthing with the bitrate perhaps because if I take moviemaker out of the equation the DVD plays fine both on computer and player.

I shall try doing the same thing on another machine.

Any other ideas?

1 You say the files output by DVD Flick (to the HDD folder) playback ok on the PC.
2 The same files burned to disk and the disk played back on the PC are bad.

If this is the case, the problem is more likely to be the disk media.

Do you mean the type of DVD e.g. DVD R-. DVD R+ etc, if so, then I have tried both formats.
