Thanks 7th singer,
Checked Akohol's guide and saw, under transfer mode, all DMA. Not PIO. Do I still need to uninstall drivers and reinstall? Looks risky...

Dialysis1,
Had been decrypting 'I love you, man' and it started at 58 minutes.
Reset DMA using Fab, rebooted, still around 56 minutes. Didn't seem to change all that much.
WTF happened in there? Is there something corrupting, possibly? Spybot S&D- yesterday... had a mess of stuff. Thought that would fix it.... that wasn't the fix. Appreciate all the suggestions. Never give up... pleeeez

Just started "Did you hear about the Morgan's". Began at 15minutes and froze for about 30 seconds. Then started again, but now at 48 minutes and bouncing up to 50 and down to 45. Has been doing that ever since the issue arose- bouncing up and down.

Sounds like a problem with the drive. Have you cleaned the laser lens?

tried cleaning... still no change. Recently moved to basement for new floors to be installed upstairs. Found friends had not known to install external hard drive to CPU and not USB hub on desk. Swapped to CPU... Poof! Funny how it all seemed to begin in basement...
Thank you for all suggestions! Hopefully I'll be able to help in the future.
