I'm trying to find a DVD program that will create an AVI with optimal picture and sound and in a file size of 1.4 GB or less. Time is not a factor, just a great looking and sounding movie. If you know a program please include your prefered parameters aswell. Thanks.

i also wanna found one, i have tried many DVD ripper, but it is really bring me poor quality. i will tell you as soon as i found a really nice one
winX DVD Ripper is a free one that I use. Compared to others I would say its probably not as fast some (I'm speaking from very little experience). It will convert to DivX or Xvid selectable frame rate, frame rate (any number you can think to type in) resolution, it will convert it audio wise to mp3 or ac3 with options for audio quality, and sample rate. Plus if there are multiple titles on the dvd you can select to do just one, two, or all of them. The great thing also is that you have all the other formats to convert to as well. Like I said it's free so try it if you want. I dont use it to convert to avi so I don't have any settings to give but you could probably play with it and figure it out. I'm a DVD ripping/backingup/burning/authoring idiot but I figured it out.
