I have a dvd that someone made for me that has 7 files on it that make up a 30 minute video. Three of the files are .vob, 2 are .BUP and 2 are .IFO. My question is how do I convert this into an avi file or mpeg file? I've tried several different free sharewares that all say they can do it but I have yet to find something that can convert all of these files into 1 seperate output. I'm trying to convert so I can take clips out of it and put onto youtube. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alltoavi should do too, Vobmerge if you need one file (both free).

Any_Video_Converter is one of the easiest. It is free and will convert to AVI/divx/h264/mpeg, whatever. Just load the Video_TS.IFO file.

I tried to convert using several different softwares and nothing is working. I'm able to convert the vob file into mpg or avi but then when I try and read it into movie maker, it says it's corrupt. It appears that the vob file cannot be converted properly because it is looking for the bup and ifo files that are associated with it. How can I convert the vob file properly so it does not get corrupted?

Do you just the VOB files, not the entire Video_TS folder, the IFO, BUP...You can just use Vob2mpg and convert to mpeg if that suits you...

I'm trying to do the same thing and having problems galore. I've done it before many times using Sony Vegas 7 without a hitch. What's weird this time is that the video file is 14 minutes long when I open it in a video player, but when I open it in a variety of different programs to convert it (Sony Vegas, Final Cut Pro, AVS Video Converter) it's only 3 minutes long. What's going on?

I've seen that a few times now and all I was able to conclude was that even though the vob's played ok on the pc, one or more were damaged. You might try running them through FixVTS or VobBlanker (both free) but they were no help here. The only program I found that showed the time properly and processed them properly to a new DVD compliant file I could use was ConvertXtoDVD (shareware). Didn't try DVD Flick (free).
