Newbie (Again) - DVD to iPad Help

I used to rip/copy all my DVD's and bring the copies to my home in FL, so I could watch them and leave the originals in NJ. Gave up on that a few years ago when I got a small laptop and played the DVD on the flight down and back.

Now I need some help to rip/copy my DVDs to any format (simple and fasst being the key) and then I can use Pavtube to convert to iPad 2 format and load into iTunes.

I have forgotten everything I once knew and I am sure there are new programs available since my days of a few years ago. I have used the search function and I am still lost.

Anyone want to help an "old" newbie regain a little knowledge in his quest to get the DVD onto the iPad?

Thank you all for your help because in the past I have many great members walk me through the steps and programs. Will use any program but "free" is always nice.

This program worked very well and does everything that I need.
