i am using a windows 7 laptop.i have dvd shrink 3.2, dvd decrypter and nero8 on my comp.
the non protected dvds i burn with nero8 and they play well on my dvd. but i burn the right protected using dvd shrink and decrypter. first i use the decrypter and i make a image of it. then using shrink and nero8(only in the background) i encode it. then it automatcally gets to a stage where it say lead-in and then lesd out. after that when the burning process is over i am able to play the dvd on my laptop but not on my otherwise dvd player.
i use writex 4.7 gb discs.
please help.
I'm not completely understanding your posting, but the info I can provide is to use either DvdFab Decrypter (freeware) or AnyDVD (payware) to rip your protected movies to your laptop's hard drive, before using dvd shrink to compress the files. Dvd decrypter and dvd shrink are not able to handle newer encryptions found on most of today's dvd's.

i can explain what my problem is. when i make a copy of right protected cd. i.e first by making an image of it on the hard drive using dvd decrypter and then with dvd shrink i make a copy of the image on the dvd. and i am able to play that dvd on my laptop but not on the dvd player attached to my television.even if it runs it is very slow.
i ll be glad if you can help me out.
Then....if the problem still there:
Update your firmware Clean your burner (CD-DVD Lens Cleaner)
If your burner is getting Old: downgrade your Media from +R to -R
Then....if the problem still there:

my dvds write succesfully but they don't play properly on my dvd player attached to the tv.as in they get stuck after a certain point. while they properly on my laptop.
how do u downgrade the media. and do i need to use dvd shrink with dvdfab? and what is the procedure to clean my burner.
i ll tell you the process i follow with with dvdshrink and dvd decrypter:-
Now click on the folder icon that shows where the DVD file will be saved. Choose a folder.
Now click on File > Decrypt.
The process of making an exact copy of the disc to the hard drive should take approx. 30-40min. depending on the length of the movie and extra features.
When DVD Decrypter is finished creating the file, you can close the program and eject the disc.
Browse for the file that you saved when copying with DVD Decrypter.
DVD Shrink will now analyze the movie for a minute or two.
Uncheck boxes for extra audio Languages that you don't need on the DVD
Click on the plus + sign by the Extras folder.
(This is where the bonus materials are on the disc)
To have higher movie quality, remove the extras by clicking on the individual files and selecting Still image/still images from the dropdown menu. (You can preview the extras if you want to see the clips before removing them.)
If you'd like to keep the extra features on the DVD, select the clip and change the dropdown menu to custom compression and lower it to about 50 or 60 percent for each extra.
Click on the main movie folder. If you've removed enough extras, or compressed them, the movie quality should be around 60-70%, the HIGHER THE BETTER.
Note: Target quality is about 65-70%, anything higher than 65%, and on regular size
TV's you won't be able to tell the difference between the copy and the original.
I personally either remove the extras or compress them to achieve the best quality.
If a movie is not too much over two hours, or doesn't have many extras, it will copy
closer to 100% quality.
Insert a blank DVD disc.
When you?ve achieved the quality setting on the main movie that you?d like, click on the Backup! icon.
Before clicking OK to start the burning, click on the Burn Settings tab and change the speed to 1 or 2 speeds lower than the highest available.
DVD Shrink will now compress the file that DVD Decrypter made and create DVD video files. Afterwards, it will automatically burn those files and the disc will be completed.

You are not compressing properly:
The more % you compress, the more quality you are loosing on your back up.
Most of Today Movies are coming on a Double Layer DVD's. DVD9(8.5Gb) The Idea is to extract: Movie Only + Audio AC3 5.1 + your native subtitles to do not compress much and end up with a better quality back up using a DVD5 (4.7Gb) Blank Media. Or even better if you try to back up using a double layer blank media can be better but will cost more $.
After run the Original DVD on DVDFab (Main Movie); and the movie is mounted on Shrink....try to use Re-autor > Compression Settings > Change Automatic for Custom Ratio and on the % bar Click, hold and move the bar to the left: Your top Green Bar will start turn Gray (That's your compression). Try to compress to around 4,300MB like this way you will not gonna end up burn your back up DVD all the way to the edge.
'cos when you burn to the edge of the disc most of the time you end up have a coaster or have the problems you have.

sorry i know i am bothering you but one more thing
i downloaded ripit4 me and followed the steps:
1. i inserted the movie disc.
2. i opened ripit4 me and clicked the wizard mode.
3.then it began to rip the dvd using decrypter.
4.i selected the option of iso read and selected the location in d drive.
and then clicked the rip icon.
5.after the the dvd was ripped i ejected the dvd.
6.then i opened dvd shrink and located the image in D drive.
7.after that i pressed the re-author button and selected compression settings.
8.i reduced my compression to 68%
9. in the main movie >extra folder i unchecked the subscriptures in other languages.
10.also unchecked the audio in languages other than english.
11.after that i clicked backup>rip using decrypter>mode i selected was write iso 12.then inserted a blank disc and began with the ripping.
but when the ripping was done by 80% it suddenly said burn process failed.
P.S:
could you please give me clear and elaborate directions fresh from the beginning step by
step to rip a copy protected dvd using RIPIT4ME SHRINK(3.2) AND DECRYPTER
All the process was correct the way you did......no problem.
Since RipIt4me link the others programs together: 1 Click Mode do everything for you automatically....until it ask you for the the blank disc to write on.
The Wizard Mode is the manual way to go...and you did it just fine.
Your burn process failed:
1.- Try it again.-'cos is the first time your PC is doing this and is learning.
2.- Clean your burner with the the CD-DVD Lens Cleaner several times (3-5).
3.- Use Good quality -R Blank Media like Verbatim brand disks.(TDK are ok too)
4.- Burn at 8x Speed or half the top speed your media is made for.
Your Burn speed is select right after you click Backup! on Shrink:
Backup! > Burn Settings > Burn speed: down scroll to 8.0x > OK
5.- You also can test your back-up's using +RW or even better -RW (Rewritable) blank media, like this way you don't need to make many coasters. (RW's burn at 4x speed).
