Ripping a dvd : protection error

Hi.

I am trying to copy a dvd (which i bought) in its entirety. However, when doing this (using dvd decrypter), about 6% into it, the dvd drive sounds as if its trying to read the same disc sector over and over again. I tried copying it with dvd shrink but the same thing happened and when i hit the eject disc button on my laptop i got a dvd shrink error saying 'unable to read: disc is protected'.

As the movie i am trying to rip was only release about 2 months ago, I'm wondering if there is any way i can get around this protection?

Both programs were great in there time, unfortunately they have not been updated in the past five or so years, the newer protections will confuse the rippers. Berryone has suggested a couple of good alternatives, AnyDVD is by far the best program to get around the DVD protection, it will work with Shrink and DVDDecrypter, but Clonedvd2 put out by Slysoft also works with AnyDVD. The program isn't cheap but they have been updating the program to handle the newest encryption schemes before the movie is released to the general public.
