Hello!

I have a ten-part miniseries (50 minutes each) in .mkv format which I want to put on dvd's.

I have a video converter and can convert to any format.

My Question: In which format should I convert the files to and which program should I use to burn it onto a disc and make a menu on the dvd?

If it's to be played on a standalone DVD player, then it would have to be in DVD movie format.
Since mpeg2 format takes up more space than other formats you would probably get a maximum of three episodes on a standard blank disk.
DVD Flick can encode, author and optionally burn the disk (using ImgBurn which is included in the download).
You do have the option of making Half D1 sized movies (it allows you to select a lower video bitrate -the size of movie = bitrate x running time) which means you might get more episodes on the disk at the cost of lower quality.
