Sony DRX-840U drive not reading discs!

So, I just recently purchased a used Sony DRX-840U external dvd drive... and it doesnt work =[
It does not read any discs that I put into it. My computer can detect the drive but cant detect any media inside of it. Ive got suggestions like using it on another computer, with a different usb cable, so on and so forth and none of them work.
