My laptop is making a clicking/hiccup sound. It happens a few minutes after I minimize the video player onto the task bar and start doing something else? . Any ideas?

Only moving parts are dvd drive & hdd, clicking is usually associated to hard drive,it may mean there could be an issue with the hdd if it's never done it in the past, you can use easeus todo backup it's free to take a snapshot of C just in case of failure it will save a full reinstall if hdd does go bye bye, however the sound could also be just the heads parking or un-parking my hitachi's do it when i use "turn off hdd's when not in use" power setting.Still wouldn't hurt to backup your C partition

If it is the heads parking, is there anything that I can do to fix it? If my hard drive does crash can I replace it with a new one? I have a asus gs74sx laptop,

I dont think you can fix it. If you do replace the hdd. Make sure you use the program scorpNZ recommended. Then make sure you buy the right hdd (ide to ide, sata to sata, etc.) All you should have to do, is remove a cover plate on the bottom of the laptop. Slide out the drive. Take the metal cover off of it then put it on the new drive and replace.

That slides over the hdd, to secure it in place. all the ones i have worked on have them, but im not sure if all of them do.

Its not really a cover. but thats the best i can describe it.

is refered to as a caddie & not all drives have them as some just use 2 metal brackets(1 on each side) to hold drive in place.
