I recently built my first computer, after a few problems which i troubleshooted on my own, there is one thing left; and thats my internet speed.
When i restart my computer, my internet speed is non-existant. it takes about 2 hours to load google.com i found a fix around this, and that was to Restart my Ethernet adapter in windows. however i noticed something else, when i download ANYTHING ( Graphics drivers updates / Windows update / Torrents ) it Limits my internet speed massively, as soon as i tell my Browser to download Skype or something, my internet speed drops to 0.001MB/s,
Website browsing / Youtube / Gaming everything works fine but as soon as it decides to download my internet speed starts acting funny, and i cannot find a way around this.
So any advice would be appreciated
My specs are;
Windows 7 64bit
Asus p8Z68 -V Pro/GEN3 Mobo
Intel i5 2500k 3.3Ghz CPU OC@4.5Ghz
8Gb Kingston Hyper X Blu ram (2x4Gb)
EVGA Gtx 560 FTW Edition
Barracuda TX 1TB 7200 RPM / 64MB Cache.
850W Corsair PSU.

doesn't make any sense, everything net related requires a downstream. my only advise is to try another browser or use an add in networking Card.
did that cable come with the modem? just wondering if you are using a crossover cable instead of a straight thru cable. does that modem also have usb port?
