I REALLY need to be able to play full size dvd-r disks on my gamecube. Do they still sell these?

Those are pretty much gone and out of production you can try contacting these guys http://www.xbox-modchips.com/ they may still have some thats where i got mine a couple years ago but just fair warning they are very "Slow" on the shipping side I have been witness to this 3 times now
