Hey afterdawners.
I ordered a modbo 4.0 from modchip central last sunday, went on vacation, and when I got back, it was delivered, along with some wire and solder I ordered from them. I tried to install it today, and everything went along smoothly until I got to point A, the last one I soldered.(btw, I have a v7 phat ps2) I couldn't get a solder ball to stick, as if some soldermask was on the metal end of that black part. After several less-than-2-second tries, I spilled some solder and shorted the resistor to the black part. One thing lead to another, and I knocked off the resistor and black part, then lost them. Yeah, stupid, I know. So, I cleared any shorts and soldered point A, then tried starting the ps2 up, just to see if it would work. The lights come on normally, i.e. red standby then green power and blue eject, and the fan spins up, but there are two problems. First, and most important, there's no video. Not a black screen, just no signal to the tv. The cable and tv are fine. Second, the disc drive makes a weird rattling sound, then whines, then repeats. It tries to move a little, then the laser focus assembly moves back and forth, then it tries to move again. However, the assembly moves freely if you push it backand forth, and the tray can open. I think I might have un-aligned the azimuth gear during disassembly, or maybe a ribbon is loose.
So, my question is, what is the black part at point A, and what is the value of that resistor? Also, just for kicks, I measured the resistance between the points where the resistor was, and I got ~40.16 ohms. I used the install diagrams located here and here.
Any information you may need, including pics, are available at request. Also, If you aren't adding to the conversation, please don't post.
TL;DR: What are the black and orange parts in the linked pictures, next to point A?
