Hello all.

I have a ps2 slim scph 79001, and i have a swap magic 3.6. I couldn't get my DVD backups to load, so i tried to do the "straw mod" floating around the internet. after tinkering with it for what seems like hours (literally), i decided to just open my ps2 and try to find the sensor itself, on the inside.

No luck. haha.


can anyone help me out as to where this infamous 3rd sensor is located? i know it's supposed to be to the right of the hinge on the left (at least that's where you enter from).

would i be able to go inside the ps2 and straight up locate and block the sensor, and then close the ps2 back up without any problems?

There were quite a few SCPH 79001 that don't have the 3rd sensor, is why you probably didn't find it.

You only need to block near the Reset button - Tool A
And the disc brake - Tool B
