Ok I recently decided it was time to backup some of my ps2 games,
so for me, i purely required a method to just play backups

I have a fat ps2, im going to use dvdr ps2 backups
Could someone please verify if i were to use this guide, that I could indeed successfully play backups on my ps2

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/291684

This tutorial, uses ARmax to copy elf files onto the MC, allowing u to launch cogswap and thereby enableing you to play backups.

This sounds a little too easy if u ask me, Ive read so many extensive guides on various methods of ps2 modding.
But this one seems extremely easy.

My question to you guys, Is there a catch? Because I'm new to all of this, Will I be able to play all backups? Is this method safe and will my backups run smoothly?

Because its made by a fellow afterdawn member, Im pretty sure its foolproof, and Im in no way trying to undermine the effort that member took in making that guide, but My main point is, if running backups is this easy, how come i only ran into this 1 guide, whereas theres many guides on other methods which dont seem to be so inexpensive and pain-free.

In the end, im new to all this, so I dont know much =/

Yes that method may work, but Ace's guide does work

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/337567

And nowadays actually people are using their Armax to install fmcb 1.8 to memory card, then using the ESR.ELF to play backups that are patched with what is called ESR Disc patcher

The guide and installation methods - link

The free mcboot 1.8b package, uLe and ESR can be found by using this link
Just look under each Official Forum heading.

Any of these methods are good, and do not hurt your PS2 in any way.

Hopefully that has answered your questions.
