FMCBoot Disc not spinning

I installed the FMCBoot 1.8 noob pack using the swap magic method. Everything installs fine and the system boots up on the MC now, without any disc required to start.

Here is the problem:

If I put a legit disc in the drive when the PS2 starts, the game automatically launches, bypassing the MCBoot menu.

If I do not put a legit disc in the drive when the PS2 starts, I get the classic red red screen warning about the disc.

If I boot up the PS2 without any disc, no matter what I put in there later, the drive will not read it. It wont even spin up, as if it has been disabled. I tried using the "Launch Disc" from the menu and through ESR, without any luck. ESR says not media inserted no matter what I stick in there.


I want to be able to Launch my game backup discs from MCBoot. What am I doing wrong?

I tried on three different boxes, 1 PS2 Fat, and 2 PS2 Slims.

Well I found a way to at least get to a disc swap.

I configured FMCB to Skip Disc Boot: Off
That allows me to start the system with a legit disc inside of it, but still get to the MC menu.

I also installed Cogswap.elf to run from the menu, which then allows me to halt the disc and put in any backup of matching disc type.
