I've been trying to research the best way to get my IDE HDD up and running for my old fatty PS2. I keep running across terms like Free McBoot, Action Max Replay, HDloader, HDadvance, codebreaker, and independence exploit.
I have no idea which is the best way to simply do what I want; that being, get my PS2 to burn and load games to/from my HDD. I have Swap Magic, an 8mb memory card, and a PSP with psp-to-pc connector cable. Can anybody lay out my best options for me, in the simplest terms possible?
I came across a step-by-step tutorial to get HDloader up and running, but it said I needed a cd to burn the program on first... can i use a dvd instead? I know I saw a youtube video a while back where the guy used his PSP as a storage device to move the program from his PC to his PS2 memory card, but I can't seem to remember where the video is, on how to do it.
Also, if I use my mem card for this, will the remaining space still work for game saves, or do I need to get a new memory card?
But I CAN download the game directly from the disc through the PS2 if I choose, yes? The reason i ask, is because i had to screw around a lot with my network adapter to fit onto my WD hard drive, and if it actually works, I don't want to take it off, and run the risk of not being able to get it to work again.
I'm half way through the process, and just found out that I need a bigger memory stick. My psp is still using a 1GB memory card, and I need that much just for the uLe. *Sighs*
For the record, the link for that DVDElf from the Inject page doesn't work. Without it, am I going to be able to fit the program on my 8MB memory card?
