Problems with Swap Magic

Hey I just bought the Swap Magic discs v3.6 or whatever. I already soft-modded the sensors on my slim ps2(70012) using a little ball of tissue paper for sensor 1, and pieces of tape for sensors 2 and 3. Before I had the swap magic discs I was able to load regular playstation games by just swapping it at the logo. Now that I have the swap magic discs, I figured that I would just be able to load them using the CD boot disc. Let's just say it's not working.
So I put in the CD coder boot disc or w/e it's called, and that boots all good and dandy. I put in my Breath of Fire 3 disc, and try to boot it up using NORMAL mode and NTSC. Instead of booting the disc, it goes right back to the ps2 bios telling me to "please insert a ps1/ps2 disc." The .img is in ntsc format, and the disc has worked in the past using the old swap method with another ps1 disc. I figured that it was the burnt copy anyway, but then I tried it with my retail copy of final fantasy 8. It gives me the same problem, going right back to the bios asking me to please insert a disc. This leads me to believe that it's a problem with the swap disc or one of the sensors.
I tried to use the dvd swap magic disc, and it worked for the most part. I used it to try and play a burnt copy of dark cloud 2, but it took a very very long time to load, and I couldn't make it past the memory card check when the game first loads. I haven't tried any other backed up ps2 or ps1 games yet but I will.
Has anyone had either of these problems in the past and if so are there any quick fixes? If someone could link me to a slim ps2 soft mod guide to make sure I did it correctly, that would be nice too.
Thanks guys.
**edit** - So I just tried loading Final Fantasy X using the DVD swap magic disc, and it didn't work. The disc kept spinning for about two minutes and then just stopped leaving nothing but a black screen. If it helps, I'm using Memorex dvd+R discs, and I'm burning the images with Imgburn. For the CD back ups I'm using Sony CD-RWs/CD-Rs and the same software.

Ok firstly Swap Magic doesn't work with PS1 backups.
So just swap them how you did before.
As for the PS2 backups, perhaps try a different media like Verbatim or Sony DVD-R
If your using the DVD+R, you have to set your BOOKTYPE to DVD-ROM when burning.
I also wouldn't use -RW discs as they are very hard on the laser
And seeing you have a V12 PS2 which is noted for the weak laser in the first place.

Shitty.
"perhaps try a different media like Verbatim or Sony DVD-R"
Whenever I get the chance I'll get some Sony discs.
"If your using the DVD+R, you have to set your BOOKTYPE to DVD-ROM when burning."
I Have no idea what this means or how to do it. How would I do this?
*edit* okay I understand it, I even found a setting for it in imgburn. However it doesn't have Sony(my drive oem) in the settings, am I able to set it a different way?

You just have to change it manually. It just automatically does it for those other drives, or at least it should.

So I went over to Nero 8 and it burns correctly, everything goes great on that end and burns in DVD-R booktype. I also remodded it using better tactics to make sure that it was modded correctly. However I've come to a new problem.
Instead of the discs not booting, they boot and run very slow. Not slow as in FPS drop, but they take an amazing amount of time to load (FFX took 45-60 seconds just to show the square logo). I think it's because I'm using Memorex DVD+Rs but I'm not 100% sure. Can anyone else give an opinion, and tell me what type of media discs they use?

Memorex is crap media as far it goes. This is why I mentioned above to try different media.
Although I say this, there are people with the latest ps2 that have no problems running them, not too say the discs will last long time though.

Most use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim.
I use Sony DVD-R all the time and have no troubles.

Thanks a lot man, I'll go to walmart or something tomorrow and pick up some sony DVD-Rs and see what happens.
*edit* - Hey it was the media. Got a burned copy of FFX running just fine. I burned it in imgburn at 6x because that was the lowest the disc would allow. The discs I'm using are Sony DVD-Rs, some kind of AccuCORE type with 16x max. Thanks again dude.
