Pretty much as simple as it sounds, can you boot PSX backups from a DVD-R?

If so, would the same method apply to booting? My PS2 is a slim w/ no modchip, just the tape/tissue mod. Could I just insert a PSX original game and wait for it to appear in browser, then swap in the backup and press X on "PS1 game" in browser?

Ok thanks, I thought it would probably have to be CD-R but just wanted to make sure.

Also, before trying the method on the page you linked to, I had tried doing what I wrote in my first post and I got to the Playstation 1 logo that shows up before the game starts but then it froze there forever..... Does this mean that the game should have booted but my disc was too scratched up to read or does seeing that logo on my backup game not really mean anything?

If it matters, i was using an SCPH-790001 with tape/tissue mod and I used Syphon Filter 3 as my original game to try and boot a backup of Resident Evil 3

Sorry for double post, but is it possible to boot PSX games using Free McBoot (FMCB I believe)? I have Swap Magic so I am able to install it but it would be pointless unless it can boot PSX backups for me (since I already have Swap Magic for my PS2 backups)

Or is there some other exploit I can use?
I can't use the one you linked to because I don't have Action Replay

Yes using a slim with sensors blocked and fmcb 1.8 installed, you can play ps1 backups.

Just check my profile page on how too do that. I only needed to follow the uLe method, I never need to use the Armax 2.2 as the guide states.
