That shouldn't matter. The CD or DVD both boot ELF files from the USB drives.

What you could try is this

Download 4.38 uLe CD -

http://psx-scene.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15125&d=1232649902

Burn it too CD-R

Then if uLe loads, plug in your USB drive with the FreeMCBoot files on the ROOT of the drive like below

In uLe choose FILEBROWSER, its by pressing O, until you configure and make changes.

Then browser to MASS/ and you should see your files, then choose FREE_MCBOOT.ELF and press O again.

Hopefully uLe reads your USB drive.

Ok well now you can patch ISO images with esr disc patcher 2.4a, then burn with imgburn at 4x to play games with esr r9b

Thats it.

And only with imgburn? That means that the other games that I had before won't work?

No you can burn with Nero if you wish, DVD Decrypter,UltraISO

Your other games should work if you burned them with something else.

If they don't work, then you may have to reburn them.

There are some burning programs out there that don't work great with burning PS2 games.

imgburn is free, and just what most people use for burning console games.

I probably understand now... I use PowerISO... Maybe this will be my last question... Because of the three little pieces I installed in my Slim PS2, the PS2 only reads the DVD/CD when turning on, if we remove the DVD and put it again... It won't read it like the normal slims do... I need to remove them right?

Ok PowerISO is not the best too burn PS2 games. UltraISO is ok though

Or just use imgburn.

The slim ps2 should read the discs just fine with the pieces in. YOu don't have to take them out again.

If they are installed properly, you can put a disc in. Start up the PS2. Once the disc is playing, open the lid.

If the disc still spins, the tools are placed properly.

Did you have ESR.ELF in your Installation of fmcb 1.8

If not you will have to download esr r9b direct dvdv elf and rename it too ESR.ELF and place it in the BOOT folder on the memory card using uLe.

If you did install it, then check your FMCB configuration by pressing START at the Sony Browser

http://freemcboot.psx-scene.com/config.php

Man, I still don't understand... You must be already bored for sure! xD I mean, it's all like the guide says, the 3 paths I put for ESR are the esf.elf from m0. That's it, or am I missing anything?

lol, no I am not bored.

Ok and your ESR.ELF is all in uppercase like I have it.

Did you patch the ISO image with esr disc patcher 2.4a first

Do you have 'FASTBOOT' set to 'on'

Then again make sure to save settings to mc0

Remember, I recorded the Free McBoot CD with powerISO... But, however, Free Mc is already installed so I don't think it's necessary... or is it?... And Fastboot was always on.

Ok Fastboot is on.

I only meant above if you make changes to the fmcb configurator, to make sure you 'save changes' when done.

You didn't answer me when I asked if you have you have patched your backup with the esr disc patcher 2.4a, that I posted above.

Sometimes its easier to watch videos
here is search list for youtube - link

I just edited my post above with youtube videos.

Ok to play a backup game with fmcb 1.8 and esr

You NEED to patch the ISO image with esr disc patcher 24a

Then burn ISO image

Then place in PS2 and it should load.

Yeah, with videos it's easier, so the ESR it's like the SwapMagic DVD, right? I put the DVD and it's like SwapMagic. ^^ Is that it? I just need to burn it.

Yes thats correct.

the only thing is the ISO needs to be patched before you burn it.

The disc patcher is easy to use

I can't find an english video but this is pretty close on how to patch- youtube link

Once its patched you can just burn it.

No, you can either use SM 3.8 elf (download link) and copy it to your memory card, and/or configure it into fmcb 1.8 so it shows in Sony Browser

Or use uLe with 'Disc control' set too on in uLe settings

Put Original PS2 DVD in PS2 tray
Then Launch uLe by pressing R1 on controller
Using FILEBROWSER, browse to your SM 3.8 ELF
Once it launches, swap disc

OR you can just recopy all your old backups, patch them with esr disc patcher and reburn them , and just use ESR to play them.

I am sure there are videos also on youtube on how to use Swap Magic with fmcb

Can recopy them, so this is what I've done:

I put the Swap Magic 3.8 elf in the USB.
Disc Control is ON.
I used the filebrowser and launched the Swap Magic ELF and black screen, nothing else...

Did you use the compressed SM 3.8 elf that is 695KB

It may work better ,not sure

Did you have Original PS2 DVD in tray. I use GTA San Andreas. I found it works best.
