Hello all,

Today I received Swap Magic 3.8 in order to work around region codes.
However, it's not working.

1)I put in the SM3.8 disc
2)Swap the game I want to play in by using the slide tool
3)Select normal/special (tried both)
4)select PAL/default (my PS2 is PAL, the game is NTSC)
5)I see the message it's booting the disc.
6)It shows the browser menu (the one with the Memory card(s) and the inserted disc) and it says it's reading the disc.
7)Then the screen changes, you hear the mystic sounds from the ps2 and it shows the agonizing red-ish screen telling me I need to put in a PS2 disc.

I've used both the DVD and the Disc and I've switched step 2 and 3 (3 becomes 2, 2 becomes 3)
What am I doing wrong here?
In order to see if it works with my PAL games I went to cheat on a PAL game.
Repeated all steps, and now my PS2 cannot even read the PAL game. When I start it without using Swap Magic before starting the PAL game, it runs perfectly fine. All games used are the original games, no downloads.

The discs are PAL, like my PS2. That shouldn't be it, the Swap Magic discs are no problem for the PS2 as the SM program starts up.

All discs I use are originals, not downloaded, by the way.

eh, well im still waiting for my swap magic discs so i'm not entirely sure, and maybe you've tried this already but on step 4 maybe selecting ntsc instead of pal, since the game you want to play is ntsc. let me know what happens.

Nope haven't tried that, but I did just now.
On Normal -> NTSC, the result is the exact same. Booting disc, browser screen, error message. (tried with disc and DVD)

On Special -> NTSC however when starting up from the SM DVD, the game seems to load eternally (keep hearing the sound of a disc moving back and forth) and the screen remains black.
The disc is slightly different in not making any sounds, but the screen remains black. I do have a feeling we are getting closer to my problem.

On a side note, my television is able to play foreign signals as I've played an NTSC-J on my PS3 and it worked fine. (I've seen the result when it goes wrong too, no sounds and all black and white)

you probably tried this, but i just keep it on "video mode: normal".
(first insert your swap magic dvd rom, turn ps2 power on, wait for the disc to stop spinning, take swap magic disc out, insert you back-up or other region game, press x.}

i have an ntsc ps2 and i have no problems with europe, north american or asian regions.

other than that i have no idea what to tell you except if its a back-up game make sure you patch it with ESR.

I still haven't figured it out... I even mailed Swap Magic customer support but they do not reply. Can someone give me a very detailed list of every step they take? Maybe I skip a step or something. Please, if you want to write that list, include the over-obvious steps, for I might've missed them nontheless.
