hi to all. i would say i'm new here, but technically not because i use afterdawn for just about everything, i just never registered but i have referred tons of people here. i have registered now, stupid me for not earlier. don't comment on that.

i recently started backing up my ps2 games. i have all the original discs, 100's, and the economy, jobs, bla bla bla, simply i'm not trying to re-buy any game, period.
my problem is with my swap magic 3.6 ntsc dvd version. i've had the disc for about two weeks now. it always worked to a point. i say this because i could only get the disc to work when my ps2 slim v70012 was completely cold. meaning the swap magic disc 3.6 ntsc dvd disc would work about half an hour after the ps2 was turned off.
the problem i'm getting now is it won't boot at all. sometimes the Playstation 2 load logo pops up, and then it goes back to the cd/memory card screen. or the ps2 load logo never pops up and it just keeps returning to the cd/memory card screen. BUT the swap magic 3.6 ntsc dvd does pop up as a ps2 format disc in the top right corner. so it never says disc read error or anything like that.

ALSO my ps2 reads everything else. it reads my dvd movies, music cd's, ps1 games, ps2 games, my swap magic 3.8 coder disc. i know you're thinking well the swap magic 3.6 ntsc dvd disc is scratched up but it isn't. is has a couple insignificant scratches but nothing to be concerned about. it worked one day, and not the next day. so i know it's not a slow dvd scratch death, and probably the ps2 system.

sorry this is long, i wanted to detail everything so i don't have people asking me a ton of questions , all i need are answers, not questions. i've read a lot of other threads similar to my subject on this site but everybody just gets off topic and it turns into an argument. let's keep it civilized people.

Hi
Ok your PS2 reads all other types of discs, so that is good, because the V12 PS2 is noted for overheating, and the coils overheating cause the laser to weaken
You can just look up PS2 V12 syndrome to know what I am talking about

If you have had the SM discs for a couple weeks and it first worked, then now doesn't
Then I would first make sure you are pushing the disc all the way down on the spindle
If that doesn't work, then ask you retailer for an exchange

Its about all you can do if everything else is working fine, unless you want to use your Swap Magic CD disc to install fmcb 1.8 to your memory card

Instructions and guides to Install are here
Read the USER guides, and check the Installation tab for how to install using Swap Magic
