I don't have swap magic or ar max drive or a modded ps2.Can I just unscrew & open my fat ps2 & swap the disc for a disc with a save on it using ulaunch? or is there another method to get just a save to transfer without SMd,ARm or a modded ps2?

YOu will need to mod your PS2, to be able to use uLaunch.elf to be able to transfer game saves to the memory card.

There are loads of installation methods to install fmcb 1.8 to your memory card

http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/ - check them out under the INSTALLATION tab.

can I use the cd method by putting in a ps2 or ps1 game & swapping it for the burned cd-R? or maybe the ps2 network adapter cd?

A PS1 game won't work as you need to launch uLe

So you can try swapping a PS2 disc for the burned disc.

I do know these methods work for swapping with a backup of the same game or demo, network adaptor disc

http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/swap.php

You could then run uLe and transfer the game save.

Once you have uLe running you would need to follow steps 1-9 of this tutorial

Not sure what you mean by second level for the disc.

There is only one layer for the disc, if thats what u mean

Oh ok. That method is with uLe and fmcb on a slim ps2, and the disc is stopped.

You need to follow that tutorial I gave link to above, to swap the disc and be able to launch uLe.

Works only on some games, some demo discs and Network adaptor disc.

If you don't have any method, why not just get a volunteer to install fmcb 1.8 to your memory card for you.

Ok here is an older tutorial on uLe - link

So you will get the idea of what all uLe does.

You can play games off an External USB drive

It is best too use an older External USB drive that has 1.1 backwards compatibility if you can find one, and that has an external Power adaptor (plugs into wall outlet). But some newer External drives may work.
Seeing the PS2 does not have USB 2.0 capability.

The compatibility rate is not as good as using an IDE hdd and PS2 Network adaptor, but with newer tools and people testing all time, it is getting better.

The newest tools are on the psx-scene anymore to copy and transfer games.

They are updating them I think with the newer tools.
