Alright I just got God Of War 2 from Gamstop maybe 3 days ago, it looks like a refurbished copy, there are some minor scratches on it, but it seems to play just fine most of the time. When I got to the point in the game where u beat Pershious or what ever his name is, the guy with the shield. After I get the shield from him, put in the statue, break the barrier, and start walking up the stairs, the camera pans back to where the giant statue is and it shows me walking up the rest of the way up the path, it doesn't show a break in the path, and all of the sudden it shows me falling into oblivion and then it says "You are dead". Ive tried restarting just the game its self, and the system mutipal times and it still does the same thing. I saved just after I broke the barrier because it had been glitching before when it showed the statues eyes being distroyed and even before when I was fighting pershius. Ive cleaned the lens with water and a que tip multipal times and it does seem to fix it during game play, but some times it glitches during cinematic and cut seines. Is there any way for me to get past this point with out starting a new game?

wow i had a very very similar problem
my game would freeze during a cinematic during that perseus level, but after a couple restarts i got past it
I managed to get past the fight and past breaking the barrier. the disk some how or another got dirty. the only times I took it out of the system since the 2nd was to clean the lens, but that wasn't the case, it was the disk that was making the game glitch like it was. But I managed to fix it, for how long I don't know. All I did was run some tap water over the silver side, washed it off with a micro fiber cloth real good, and cleaned the whole tray area of the maybe 4 year old slim and it played all the way to the end of the game with out any problems. Only time will tell once I get back to that part on normal mode if it will work or not.
