Is there a way to swap, without using boot disks, in order for me to play ps2 backups on my fat ps2?
If not, is there any free way to play ps2 backups on my fat ps2?
If not, what is the cheapest way?

There are free volunteers who will install fmcb 1.8 to your memory card

Then you can use what is called ESR.ELF to play backups that are patched with esr disc patcher

You are required to pay for postage to them and back to yourself again.
