Hey guys!
Well, I've always booted up backups with no problem even since I found out myself that even when you use a cheat disc, like GameShark, you can boot up your PS1 backups (which made me scream in happiness when it worked the first time, heh :P)
Anyway, I got myself a backup of Fear Effect (which I've been wanting to play since ever) and after I hit X to load up my backup, it just stays at a black screen. I've wasted a lot of discs 'cause I thought I burnt it the wrong way. I tried using ImgBurn and Alcohol 120%, once on each software. Then I tried burning it at 2x two more times, once on each software again, and still nothing.
I even got another ISO of it to make sure that I put it on my computer without errors.
Am I doing something wrong? I've always booted up my backups this way, but does this mean that I should get myself another backup loader?
If it helps, my PS2 is a v7 (SCPH39001)

Not sure your problem, unless your burn is too slow.
I burn all my PS1 backups at 12-16x speed using Alcohol 120 on CD-R
I would not speak of downloading ISO though as that is considered Pirating.

Sorry about that. It's just that I tried to say that I got it another way and still had the same problem. Won't happen again, I promise :)
Anyway, most of the time, I burn all my backups at MAX speed and have had no issues. I heard it was reccomended to burn at 2x from some YouTube user, hoping that it'd fix this issue I'm having. I have no idea why this is the only one that is causing problems for me.

no problem. I will see if I can't find any info on burning fear factor.
This is the 4 cd game, just to be sure we are talking the same.
I don't know if its the burn speed or what. Have you tried just burning at 12 or 16x using Alcohol with the playstation setting?

Yeah, I used to always use Alcohol 120% before finding out about ImgBurn and have had no problem with it, but nah, I haven't tried burning it at 12x or 16x yet, but wait, there's a Playstation setting on Alcohol 120%?

Yes I just found the game works fine burned with Alcohol 120, datatype set to Playstation, burned on CD-R at 16x speed.
Breaker Pro loaded the game right away.

Awesome! Only, I don't see a "Playstation" setting that you've mentioned.
I heard about Breaker Pro before and PSX-Change (which an old friend used to have that I don't get into contact with anymore). Where can I get one of these if I need one?

You don't have datatype like pictured below
If not then go to options, then click reset to default, and see if that makes a difference. You should see datatype setting under Options, then click General.
You can buy breaker pro I believe at modchip.ca, consolesource.com, or gocbyershop.com just to name a few.
I bought mine long time ago at one of those.

:( -sigh..-
Still nothing. I tried both settings for PS1 and PS2 and still nothing; just a black screen and 2 discs wasted. Man, I don't get how this is the only game I've had a problem with. Thanks though, for trying.
It's kinda weird, the PS2 acts like its ready to boot the disc up (kind of starts to wind the disc up) then it just stops and sits there, continuing to spin the disc.
Well, suppose I gotta get myself a Breaker Pro soon, heh. Even then, I'm gonna get a little mad if it doesn't boot if I get it. :/

Yeah I hear ya, not sure what the problem could be.
I tested it on my V14, let me try tomorrow and test on my V7 as thats the same as yours.
That way you will know for sure it works on that version using Breaker pro.
It could just be something to do with Gameshark and this particular backup.

Sorry for double posting guys, but I had smokyrain help check it out for me, with no luck. Got a v7 PS2 which barely read discs so it couldn't have been checked out with the Breaker Pro.
Was just wondering if anyone else with a v7 PS2 and Breaker Pro could check it out for me. That way (hopefully) it'll work and would finally lead me to buying a Breaker Pro myself.
