Hello,
I have heard that I should use a Crossover cable.
But I can't recognize and differ between a Croosover cable or a normal Ethernet cable, Yesterday I just went to PC store and asked him I want a crossover cable he just said yes I have and he gave me one. But however. The two cables looks the same. I told that to the man. Then he said "Yes they looks the same but they differ from the inside.. Is this true?
I Did everything of the first step using Windows XP Professional on my other Acer Portable Laptop.
But where do you mean exactly the IP address of the Xbox will appear? Do you mean in this main menu once I turn on the console?
But then if not in the main menu then should it be in the IP addresses screen accessed from main menu: Settings>Network Settings>IP addresses> But then When I switch to Automatic I don't see any IP address all are set to zero.....
I have also tried to set the IP addresses manually, Look at the picture. I have set the IP address,Subnet Mask and Default Gateway just as the same as I did on configuring my PC's IP address....But I can't restore the default IP settings!!!! How can I delete the addresses I entered and restore the default settings as it was, which was: IP address: 0.0.0.0 , Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0 , Default Gateway:0.0.0.0 Everytime I try to deletewhat I typed system tells me: The Internet address entred is not correct for this setting. I am trying to set it back to 0.0.0.0
See. This is how the connction appears once I finish configuring the IP address like you have posted in the guide. and once I connect the cable to Xbox and PC and turn on the xbox:
I can't connect using the FileZilla too. As you see in the picture I enter Host 192.168.0.2 , Username: xbox , Password: xbox , and port: 21 and tells me Connection timed out
Strange!!!
Maybe I am not using a Crossover cable? But the store man just told me it's a Cross cable and Inferno said I can also use just a normal Ethernet cable.
