New disk drive...still same old problem

I started to get the dreaded 'open tray' error a while back so I purchased another disk drive. I switched the logic board and done everything exactly right, yet despite it being a brand spanking new drive, I'm getting the same error. Some games will still play but with a great deal of time and effort. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
