I bought the the dvd set of Star Trek Deep Space 9 on ebay. Some of the disc play flawlessly. But I'm having problems with some episodes getting "hung up" with disc reading errors. I've tried cleaning the (supposedly new and not pirated) discs with water and dishwashing detergent, as well as toothpaste (as recommended on some forums). Still the same problem. Tried on multiple dvd players with same result - except my son's laptop mac OSX - which played the episodes(although with a message that said it was reading past some errors on disc).

My question: is there a dvd player that can read the "damaged, pirated, etc" discs as well as a laptop mac osx? Sugggestions????
