Hi all,

I'm searching for a standalone DVD player to connect to my TV that'll accept a standard PC IDE or Sata hard drive. Must be able to connect it to the TV and be able to swap out the DVD drive as needed with a standard PC one. All the ones I've ever purchased use non-standard drives so they can't be replaced and I'm sick of the drives lasting about 6 months at most before they start skipping or blocking up on the disks. Don't say it's the disks as they've worked fine in the past and I use multiple different types of disks and they all seem to do it (unbranded and branded disks).

Any ideas if any company makes the type of system I'm looking for or not? If so can someone link me through to one or give me the make/model number please.

If there aren't any standalone players that'll do this does anyone know if it's possible to connect a portable unit to a TV using a standard PC drive?

Thanks in advance.
Baz.
