Creaky Thanks,
The first link seems to be easy to follow except for the memory card part.
If I use the USB method, can I plug the a USB memory stick in the XBox USB port and do the transfere?
The USB method is not clear? or should I create my own USB cable!
Which method do you recommend? what did you use?
Thank you

Oh one more thing. How does playing the back up process work after the soft mod?
Can you buy a game and them make a back up from it? or you have to download an ISO file?
Thanks

Here's the USB method ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/578329
As to games, i just install DVD2XBOX which basically rips the game to the hard drive, then you can play games without needing the original game disc. The standard xbox hard drive is only about 8GB so you can only fit a few games on, on some of my xboxes i have 250GB and 500GB drives, and on the main xbox (500GB) i have ALL my games installed, something like 176 games in total.

I've only got Halo 2 installed on 250GB+ drives. Just did a du -sk of my Halo folders ~
3079225 Halo
4615005 Halo 2
..which means i've probably only got the first Halo game on xboxes that have stock hard drives (for me and the kids to play over System Link) as it's 3ish Gigabytes

Thanks Creaky,
I saw this USB page, and still confused. Is this something I can buy from a store, or I have to make?
Can you post a link where I can buy this USB cable?
I am sorry I am very new to XBox, and I don't have one yet. I thought a regular USB card can do the trick. Where do you connect this USB card to in the XBOx?
Thank you

It's all in the link, you have to make one; there's two ways to mod a box that i know of, a memory card (usually cheap but not always) and the USB method, plus one of 3 game discs. All software is mentioned in the links as are all the instructions. My own step by step first softmod is on page 2 of the second link in my first reply
