Hey everyone. I just recently modded my xbox and this thread is for those of you who potentially run into the problem I did when trying to install Xboxhdm (using chunkhead's tutorial located Here onto your new HDD. If you are getting this message when trying to install:

This script assumes /dev/hda is the device to be used for creating or rescueing an xbox harddrive
No disk drive found on /dev/hda (primary master)!
Shotdown, connect a drive and reboot"

First make sure you know how to access your computers BIOS menu then:

1. Remove all of your HDD's. Start your computer and go to your computers BIOS. Your BIOS can be accessed by hitting a certain key during your computers start up. In my case I had to hit F1. (You can have your xboxhdm boot disc in right now, just get into your BIOS before it has a chance to load)

2. Once you have accessed your computers BIOS, go to BOOT and set the boot order to CD-Rom first then Hard Drive second.

3. Now ESC out of the menu and it should ask you to save your settings. Click yes to do so.

4. Your system should reboot

5. Once the computer is back on wait for the xboxhdm menu to pop up. Hook up the HDD that is to become your new Xbox HDD as the master drive and wait a few seconds just to make sure the computer has time to recognize the HDD is connected (there will be no on screen indication that your HDD has been recognized by the computer so just wait 30 sec or so) then continue the install as usual.

6. You will get to a point in the middle of the install where you need to hard reboot your system (it's the reboot right before you type '3' and then 'lockhd -a'). Shut the computer down completely and disconnect the HDD.

7. Turn on your computer and go back into the BIOS menu (before the disc has a chance to boot) and redo the BOOT configurations listed in step 2. Then ESC out and save your settings when prompted to.

8. Your computer should automatically reboot and wait for the xboxhdm main menu to appear then reconnect your new Xbox HDD as the master drive, wait a moment for the computer to recognize the HDD. Then continue the tutorial.

Summary: I know this seems pretty complicated but in a nutshell you are basically resetting the boot sequence in the BIOS menu and unconnecting your new Xbox HDD everytime you hard restart your computer which should really only happen in step 6 of this tut. This is what worked for me so hopefully it will work for you Good luck.

Not a bad little idea there, the software was always buggy like that, there's a million things that can stuff it up! Glad it worked for you!

ha ha you go that right with the software being a little buggy. I just tried it with a different HDD and it didnt work. I repeated the process for several hours and nothing. It is what it is though I guess. I guarantee it's because my desktop is so old. Once i get a newer computer it should be all good. Thanks again for all of your tutorials man, they really made a difference.
