How can I convert .ts files from my PVR into a format that DVD Shrink will recognise to clean up start/finish and adds?

You don't. Shrink only recognizes IFOs/VOBs/BUPs.

*.TS files and Video_TS folder are two totally different things.

you could try a converter, Format factory or any video converter should do the job,
an alternative is to download DVD flick (Free) and write the ts file as a new dvd with Audio TS and Video TS files onto a disc, if you still want to use dvd shrink it should open the disc no problem.

DVD Flick might read the .ts files but it may also result in audio sync issues or just crash due to the inability to cope with glitches and corruption in the broadcast stream. And if it did work, you would no longer have the need for DVD Shrink.

the new version of DVD flick seems to have fixed a lot of the problems with audio sync issues and i've yet to have it crash on me, as to braodcast glitches I live in south Africa and beleave me our system is not the best in the world but even so I seem to succeed more than I fail when I copy the TS file from my PVR, it the Risk you take it eather works or not.
as to dvd shrink your right he won't need it if flick works, but at least he can make a second disc a lot faster than waiting for dvd flick by useing shrink.

Make a second disc using DVD Shrink? What exactly you mean by that, care to explain, since it doesn't make much sense to me...?

most of use like to make more than one backup, and if you've ever used dvd flick you might note that is kind of slow, so a second copy can be made using dvd shrink, and it won't take as long as dvd flick because it does'nt have to go through the prosses of recreating the vob and vts files.
you know so much about this stuff then riddle me this, I just bought the second and third season of PRIMEVAL and wanted to make backup copies with DVD Fab 6 but it only gives me 8 seconds of each disc so i used DVD fab 5.2.2.2 and it worked fine dvd shink tells me the dvd structure is wrong ???? riddle me o wise one as to why that is, even the older clone DVD has no problem backing the disc up.

Actually, DVD Shrink has no use to make a second copy, you just burn the existing files to disc using whatever burner you want(ImgBurn for example).Using DVD Shrink would be redundant and pointless.

never did say dvd shrink had to be used, just that he could use it if he wanted to, but in all seriousness both dvd fab 6 and dvd shrink make my blood boil when they only give you half the movie or an out of order structure, why would shrink till me the structure is wrong if the ### thing is playing like it should, and mind you this is the new version of DVD shrink, as to imgBurn it comes as a package with DVD flick so I know it works.

Unless it is a movie that you want to remove features/reduce size, there is no use for DVD Shrink with an output from DVD Flick. For a second copy, just burn it, no reason to process it again.

There is no "New Version of DVD Shrink". DVD Shrink is the same that's been out for ages, hasn't been updated in a very long time, it's development ceased. If you were tricked into getting a "New Version", well...you got duped.
As to DVDFab 6 making your blood boil...could be because it is old...it's already up to version 7.xxx.
Even if the video plays okay in a video player, a transcoder still can have problems handling it(afterall, the original discs do play with no problems with all the encryption on them)

as to imgBurn it comes as a package with DVD flick so I know it works.

Yes, it does come with DVD Flick, but you can also use it as an individual, standalone program to burn any data, music, video...

DVD shrink, and I stand under correction, come out with the last one in 2008(the version I have says DVD Shrink 2008 in the heading, don't now maybe it is fake, but it looks different and works better, for me anyway) as to DVD fab 7 tried it and it did the same, gave me the same 8 seconds as dvd fab 6, could it be that the new fab's can't read the slightly older encription packages.

DVD Shrink 2008 is a FAKE, nothing to do with the "rel" DVD Shrink...and I cannot see how it would work better.
What movie are you having problems with DVDFab? Did you try to use/not use "PathFinder"?

actualy it only 2 discs, the series is Primeval from the UK, but I managed with dvd fab 5 thanks.
as to the rest I use powerISO to copy the disc onto my hard drive and then copy the iso with DVD fab onto a disc seems to remove the encription that way.
Thanks for the heads up on Shrink but for me it does work better than the old one, don't know why, but just lately I stick to DVD fab and Clone DVD Mobile.
P.s explain Pathfinder Thanks

Pathfinder is a setting in DVDFab, can be turned on/off.
I for example, I wasn't able to rip a 4 years old disc with the new DVDFab, until I disabled "PathFinder",I was just getting some nuisance error with PathFinder turned on.

The latest version of Shrink is from 2005. Everything else is scams and naturally not working any better since the source code isn't available and scammers had no way to improve upon the code.

you could try slowing down the transcoding speed by setting your encoding prosess to BEST also check the quality of the project your trying to encode, bad quality in the video or the audio will also effect the lip sync.

WTF?? you really are a retard aren't you.. knockoff?? you prick.. building from source an updated application from latest source code (12/1/2010) is not a "knockoff" .. it is a new completely legal application.. not something 5 years outdated and sold by scammers to morons.. shit you retard.. I use the source in my custom built unix dvd ripper which does things you morons can only dream of.. yeah.. disney at first release.. (because I write my own ripping applications instead of being a lazy whining retard like you spamming my own site everywhere like some fucking "windows one click genius") not 6 weeks later after slysoft have pissed about and taken your money.. You have never seen my work on dvd ripping.. or know how close I have come to being dragged through the courts for releasing code.. there are people here who know I have been named in court papers for writing and contributing to dvd ripping programs.. come back when you have a clue eh? .. I was an addict and well respected member here when you had 1 moronic post..

there are some right pricks on this site.. and you chetwood spammer are one of them. I'm going to hound you now.. I can search and destroy a prick like you very easily.. kiss your "respect" goodbye.. I'm going to tear you a new one Mr "Expert" .. hahaha.. that's a fucking laugh... you know less than my 6 year old kid next door..
