Dvd Shrink only allows you to compress a DVD9 video down to DVD5 video. DVD9 is a dual layer DVD video, DVD5 is a single layer DVD video. If you want to convert a DVD video to a different format, you have to use a tool like Nero Rencode.

Nero recode does the exact same thing as DVD Shrink. Made by same author even. Did you mean Nero Vision? Anyway I wouldn't recommend Nero to switch a DVD to a different format.

What exactly are your purposes? I wouldnt want you to convert anything to .wmv when there are better alternatives. Explain what you are trying to accomplish and we can find proper and most likely free softwares for you.

Nero Recode allows you to shrink dvd videos and also re-encode them to different formats. I use it to convert dvd videos to avchd mp4

I stopped using nero after version 6 so wasnt aware that function was added. My bad.
I still hope the OP reports back and explains their intent before i recommend a paid program, bloated with many things they might not need.

No need to use Nero bloatware when DVDfab can convert the format. Not that anyone ever should use WMV crap of course.

I have an Xbox 360 that I cant update because I dont have WIFI, so I cant do any XBOX updates, which means I cant play all file formats from my hard drive, after searching a few I found that wmv and mov and ofcourse DVD formats work so i am sticking with them. .wmv files lose alot of quality don't they? the movies seem fairly poor quality.

You don't need wifi to update your xbox 360. All you need to do is connect a network cable to the back of the console. Then say test xbox live connection in the settings tab. Then you can download the latest update. If you want, you can also download the optional ipod update that adds h264 format playback.
