I am trying to backup my Bruno DVD and am running into significant problems. It runs through the entire backup process in DVDShrink, however when played in a dvd player, there is no sound. I have tested it in several different DVD players and have tried other DVD's too...Any idea's on how to fix the problem?

I thought I was having problems with this disk when the director's track which would drop out.

It seems there are two versions of the movie... the theatrical version and another with extended commentary. This shows up as the bigger of the two. I don't, however, think there are two movie files. The bigger one inserts the extra commentary into the theatrical version. So I believe you should be able to rip it as a whole at about 65% compression (once extra voice tracks/previews are removed) and 50% for extras on a single sided disk. Or just record either movie. Mine worked as a whole disk. If you?re not getting audio I?d recheck the ripped files in Shrink to see if you removed all the audio tracks? or check the audio button during playback.

I used a dual layer disc amd didnt have to compress at all. I used one disc from netflix, then tried another from blockbuster with the same result. I gotta believe it's something i'm doing wrong because there isnt much literature on the issue when prowling the net. I'll try a different ripping program as sometimes that can make the difference.

I don't know what to say. I originally ripped this disk using DVD Fab but then when I heard the dropouts on the director's track, I thought the disk might be defective. So I re-ripped it using Shrink without compression then I then edited it to fit on a single layer DVD. It playes fine.

Do the original ripped files play off the hard drive? A free player like VLC can open folders.
