I'm using RipIt4Me, DVD Decripter, Fix VTS, DVD Shrink and ImageBurn. Most of the time I get the results I want but I have one problem that no one else seems to have. It occurs with some DVDs and not others and the DVD Shrink part of the process is where it occurs.
Sometimes, instead of burning a dual layer disk, I make two separate backup ISO files, one containing the movie (without the extras) and one containing the extras (without the movie). If I need to, I'll deselect (in DVD Shrink) the foreign language tracks under Audio and Subpicture but I never deselect any English or Unspecified tracks, nor any Director's Comment tracks. I don't change compression on audio tracks unless it's sometimes to No Compression. When my two backup files are done, I use ImageBurn to create my two DVD-R or DVD+R disks.
This works just fine on many DVDs, but sometimes I end up with a movie disk which won't play the movie commentary. If I use ImageBurn to burn a DVD+R DL disk (instead of the two separate single-layer disks) without the use of DVD Shrink, everything works just fine.
So - is there a file or files in the Extras folder that is required to make the movie commentary play on my movie disk, even though the Director's Comment is listed and selected under Audio when I create my backup ISO file? Could it be some small, insignificant-looking file? How can I tell?
No, the audio commentary is just a regular audio stream and as long as you have it checked it will be there on your DVD and also selectable by cycling through the streams with your remote (activating by menu might not work though).
