I am trying to back up a movie and I get this massage:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue

Failed to read file D:\

Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Has anyone out there gotten this massage? At around 82% movie only?
Windows Vista

I'm using still XP. But "cyclic redundancy check" not only PREVENTS DVD Shrink operation but also stops me playing orig disc ON the computer. What is it? Any way around? Ta in advance for any help forthcoming! bobby macka

I don't ever get that massage but I have gotten that message before. It means stop using dvdshrink and get a better program.

Bullshit. How is it Shrink's fault when the original disc won't play?

No It's Not Shrinks Fault, You Just Need to Clean Your Disc or Stop Scratching It.
While Shrink is an Older Program, It Still is One of the Better Ones. If if You're Having Trouble Ripping A Newer Movie, I Suggest You Use AnyDVD in Conjunction With Shrink, to Handle the Newer Protections. You May Also Want to Try DVDFAB HD Decrypter.
If You"re Having Trouble Playing the Orig Disc on the Computer, Try VLC Player.

I used to get the cyclic redundancy error a lot with shrink. When using dvd decryptor, I never ran into that error and things got ripped just fine. I even used to get it with brand new movies, and no it's not my hardware being the problem.

This is a common error message. It means many things. The movie you are trying to copy has a scratch or oil (fingerprint) smudge on it, check disc and clean. Software on movie might be stopping copy. Try backing up the movie only, not the whole disc. Paramount and Disney use a method where they put 30 or more copies of movie on disk but only one will work, the answer is to no what movie is correct one. The only movie that I was never able to copy was " Old Dogs" by Disney. I live in Canada where I can do this, if I own the movie, and do not sell it. Outside Canada, the laws are different. In the USA this is illegal, so be carefull. Tell me name of movie.
