Does the most recent release of DvdFab eliminate the need to use Shrink.
It appears Fab shrinks the file down to 4.3GB to allow bunring with ImgBurn without processing through Shrink.
Is this correct?

I know the paid versions (platinum/gold) allow you to rip down to dvd5 size. Is that what you are seeing?
You should be able to click on the down arrow and choose dvd9 size.

I have to say NO it does not. I use Ripit4me, Fix VTS, DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 and DVD Shrink 3.2 set to burn image with DVD Decrypter with XP Pro, Windows Vista Ultra AND Windows 7 RC. I occasionally use Imageburn and on rare occasions DVD Fab HD. We need the DVD Shrink Forum, and yes we should keep up with the other software available - But DVD Shrink has too many features to give up. By the way, my Windows 7 RC is on a 64 bit laptop and the above programs work on everything I have given it to do.

In short, the paid version of DvdFab 6.xxx (DVD to DVD) can compress/transcode the file size down to fit on an SL disc without the use of another program.
However, i prefer to rip full disc, then clean the files and remove the unwated junk with VobBlanker before transcoding/encoding. This is due to DvdFab not always producing the cleanest rips.

Thanks for your responses. I think I found my problem. The drop down box was set to DVD5 instead of DVD9.
I changed the setting, used DVDfab, then shrink and was able to back up my purchase.
Thanks again everyone for your help.

Nope! DVDFab is my primary tool since it does a good enough job, and allows me lots of options, transcodes nicely, and allows me to burn to either DVD5 or DVD9 depending on what I want to do.
However, DVDFab occasionally chokes on some new release DVD titles - it's as if the Studios are throwing new twists out there that temporarily confuse DVDFab until the next update.
Case in point, the Region DVD Title The Edge of Love, a new release this week. DVDFab starts analyzing then closes out (both versions 5 and 6). So I just call up the old standby trio of RipIt4Me, Shrink, and ImageBurn, to backup that title with no problem.
Shrink isn't dead by a long shot...
