I have a question for the board, and it may not belong in this forum but I have tried another forum without a response back. I am having a problem with my DVD/CD Burner, when I am burning disks, especially cds, I am having one of two problems, either the burn is failing in the middle of the burn, or at the beginning when it is just starting to burn when the buffer level goes to 100% it is not buffering at all and the disk wont even start burning. Is there a software conflict? Is my burner going bad? It is starting to happen more frequently especially when burning cds recently when backing up dvds it hasnt had any problems, any help would be appreciated.

Is the firmware up to date?

If you are using ImgBurn (the best burning software available) you can check the firmware version and if newer is available.

Tools > Drive > Check for firmware updates.

There is a possibility that laser used for CD burning is expiring, while the DVD laser is still functioning.

I am actually using an older version of nero, I am beginning to think that my cd laser is going but I wanted to get other peoples opinion before I bought a new burner

For Dvd's = Run DVDFAB first - then shrink - then nero to burn to disc
