DVD Drive Hangs

Using Windows 7 Pro, 64bit with Samsung SH-203N SATA DVD drive. When I start up DVDShrink the DVD drive will normally make it through the analysis process with no problem. When I start the backup function the process will begin and then suddenly it just seems to pause. The application does not hang, the DVD activity light stays solid but no progress is made? If I pause the backup, wait for 3-4 minutes then click resume it will sometimes continue for another 10-15%, then it will hang again. I have looked through all the system logs, and there are no errors of any kind related to SATA or the application itself. This same type of "hanging" occurs when I use the AnyDVD rip to HardDrive funtion as well. It seems as if the SATA drive just stops pulling the data, because I will have other applications running with no problem, and the system has never crashed. Anyone have any idea here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW I had the exact same setup using XP Pro 32-bit, and everything worked flawless. All these problems started when I upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit.

There are some problems with Windows7 64 bit. This may be the cause of the problem.
