Hi. I?m having a problem getting DVD Shrink 3.2 to read a non encrypted DVD. I purchased a new Toshiba Laptop and it had Vista installed. I told the seller that I would purchase it if they removed Vista and installed XP. The drive is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K17A. I also have a PC with 98SE and don?t have any problem with DVD Shrink there or with the PIONEER DVD POWER program. I tried an encrypted DVD on the laptop with the same result---VIDEO IS SCRAMBLED when I try to play DVD?S on my Pioneer DVD POWER program. I get the following message when I try to run the non-encrypted DVD via DVD SHRINK----?DVD SHRINK ENCOUNTERED READ ERROR AND CANNOT CONTINUE-----COPY PROTECTION ERROR-----COPY PROTECTION ERROR-THE GIVEN SECTOR DOES NOT HAVE A VALID CSS KEY???? . I've tried running it through DVD DECRYPTER [I?m using a rewriteable DVD] but that didn?t correct anything. I'm thinking a bum DVD but???Anyone any ideas???? Sure hope I haven't broken any rules here. MANY THANKS. Take care all.

Thank you Berryone for the reply. I've tried a number of things and it would appear to be a conflict with the DRIVE on my Laptop. I can play all DVD'S on my PC with the 98SE OS. The encoded DVD playes OK. There was one strange thing that happened. I tried to run the encrypted DVD on my laptop and it was srambled, as usual [I'm using PIONEER POWER DVD program.] I then tried my PC and it was scrambled. I shut it down [the DVD program] and then tried again and all worked OK. I tried it a number of times and no problem running it on the PC. I tried the laptop again and it was still scrambled I went back to the PC and the disk played OK??? I'm making the unencrypted DVD'S from my VHS tapes. I recorded them from "C" Band in the mid to late 80's. I first make a copy on a rewritable and run a check. If it looks OK I then make a copy on a VERBATIM -R. I tried the VERBATIM and it will play anywhere. The rewritables are TDK'S and are the disks that seem to be giving me problems. I'm going to try again and will advise if things change, if I don't go crazy first!!! I looked into another driver for my laptop but it seems it is up to date??? Wondering why I'm doing this---just for kicks, the technology fascinates me. Anyhoo thanks and do take care. Many thanks for your attention.
