I have a Dell Studio 1558 laptop w/ dvd burner. I like to make back up copies of my dvd's so that I have a spare in case something happens to my original. I've had problems with all other dvd copying software. I can copy the DVD to my hard drive just fine. The copied dvd to my hard drive works fine but when I copy it back to a dvd I get spots where it just hangs up my dvd players. I've ruined about 25 DVD's out of a 100 dvd pack by doing this because I'd check the first dvd and it would be fine. But now going through the one's I'm copying I find issues with all of them except the ones that gave me a message that it found a copy protection on it and asked for a region number when originally copying them to my HD. Those copied fine. But all others when I try to copy back to a DVD end up having errors. Is there a program that can burn DVD9's to DVD 5's WITHOUT errors. I have list of all the major ones that people said worked, and they don't. There is some kind of error with all of them when writing back to DVD. Is there a setting on my dvd burner itself that may not be set up properly this giving me more error disks?

All help would be appreciated.

What programs are you using to backup your dvd's?

DvdFabDecrypter to rip (freeware)

Vobblanker to clean up the files (freeware)

Dvd shrink or dvd rebuilder to compress (freeware)

Imgburn to burn (freeware)

Another possibility is DVDFAB7 (free) DVD Shrink (free) Nero to burn (not free but there are other free programs that will burn - Imgburn is great) I even run my home movies through this process because it makes them a little cleaner. Any DVD that you paid for is going to have encryption.
