Greetings all,

Forgive me if there are any current existing threads on this, I did a search & didn't find anything newer than a couple years old. Per forum rules I'm not allowed to reply to them & was forced to create a new thread.

About a week ago, out of the blue I started having the shutdown issue. DVD Shrink only processes between 14-18% before freezing & then my pc turns off. Prior to that I've been using DVD Shrink successfully for almost 4 years. I've done a good amount of google research on this problem & have tried just about everything I found to no avail. I've set my virtual memory to 4000mb/4000mb, defragged all my harddrive partitions several times each, watched my system in task mgr while using DVD Shrink & found CPU usage ran steady at 100% with only a few quick drops down to the mid 80's & virtual memory usage fluctuated around 500mb. I've tested all my memory sticks with Memtest86 version 3.4 & Memtest86+ version 4.00 for a good half hour to an hour each with no fails. I also open my case & blow it & the fans out with canned air about once a month. Everything besides DVD Shrink on my pc runs as it should.

Here's some background info on my system:

Biostar TForce 550SE m/b
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 3.1Ghz Dual-Core
WD 320GB 7200rpm Sata internal hdd split into 4 partitions
4GB A-Data DDR2 800 PC2-6400 Extreme Edition RAM
Sapphire Radeon X1800XT 512MB 256bit GDDR3 PCI-E
Samsung SH-D163B Sata DVD-ROM
Samsung SH-S203B Sata DVD-RW
550w ATX PSU with 2x 80mm fans
ATX Mid-Tower case with 3x 80mm fans
Win XP Pro SP2

As a side note, the only new software I've installed in the last few months is Ashampoo Burning Studio 9. And my dvd backup process is:

1) AnyDVD
2) DVD Shrink
3) IMGBurn

Any possible ideas?

Thanx in advance for any help...

Boot in safe mode and run DVD Shrink to see if some running process that would normally start up is causing the problem.

Check the temp with the likes of HMonitor to see if it's close to the edge.
You will have to find the allowed range of the CPU.
