Thank-you k4kjf, I asked an honest question. It isn't just scenes from the new Transformers movies, how about the teeny bit of language in the newer Batmans? I'm not sure how I became the target of derision because of this. Even when I don't agree with other people in forums that are technical, I keep those opinions to myself. People come to technical forums for technical help, it should be kept that way.
But you are bringing your over the top opinions here. This is becoming quite irritating now, i thought i'd already cleared this up when i said that maybe you should follow the age ratings on the films before allowing your kids to watch films. As i myself don't know any technical way to achieve what you're asking and cannot (easily) verify any suggestions that others provide that might work, that's the best (and most sensible) suggestion there is.
Not that it's got anything to do with this thread but since you mentioned it i brought my kids up for the last 12 years by not swearing in front of them or exposing them to any swearing on tv or whatever. But you can't stop people around you from swearing, you can't use telepathy to guess when swearing will be uttered from a program/situation anywhere. That's called real life and there's nothing you can do about it. I did the right thing for me and my kids in the way i brought them up, thus i don't have to cringe everytime they watch a movie with swearing or when people walk by in the street swearing, as my kids know not to use such words (until they're older).
I'm sure the rest of us are thankful that movies aren't censored any more than they already are.

Anyways, other than my common sense suggestion re age ratings on films what else do you want us to do ?, sue the film makers or the creator of DVD Shrink because you don't have access to features that pander to your mindset ?. If the other suggestions throughout the thread don't help then i don't see what else can be done here. I and other moderators do strive to keep the forums free of foul language and other unsavoury things purely as we don't know the age of those reading. We can't however stop those things occurring all around us. Please let's leave it there and get back to the technical aspects of whether or not your requirements can be achieved, and if so, how.

Oh, my, oh my!! This brings fond memories of watching movies with my parents as a child. I remember when "unexpectedly" they would throw in a semi nude scene in a movie on TV, my dad would say "go fetch me some tea" ~)))!!

If someone is worried their children will turn to the "dark side" if they see or hear some occasional innuendos, by all means do whatever...

Back to the technical stuff, I have had no problems doing what seems to be the aim of the OP using VobBlanker, you can do the editing at the cell level.Sounds complicated, but is not at all, no different than using DVD Shrink, just a busier interface, lots more options that will not be used;a couple of mouse clicks and that dirty mouth is out of there!

cyprusrom - Thank-you! Downloading now.

I did create a single VOB file from the VOB's created by my cutting in DVD Shrink, and now am running that thru a program called Any DVD converter to convert it to an mpeg-i file which I tested out with a different, much shorter video and it played on my dvd player. I'm just not sure about quality, we'll see how it turns out!

So again, thank-you very much for your help! I haven't been able to get my hands on the Merge button in NeroRecode even though I downloaded Nero9, and looked through lots of internet stuff. Not sure it's available anymore.

I don't know about Nero 9, I never felt the need to upgrade from the most stable version 7 that I ever used. I do have the option to merge the titles. Not sure what option in Recode you used, in Nero 7 is "Compile a DVD". If you use "Recode an entire DVD" or "Recode main movie", you don't have the trim/merge option.

As for converting to mpeg- not sure exctly what you are doing or why, but you will loose quality with any transcoding/converting, VobBlanker doesn't do any of that.

VOB is mpeg already, just in "disguise"; so if your player plays plain mpeg, you might be able to just change the extension to mpeg, or use Vob2mpg to convert the one big vob to mpeg, without transcoding and quality loss.

I've never used Nero at all, and fortunately I downloaded the trial version, not sure I really need all the fancy shmancy stuff it does. And your right, I did loose quality big time converting the VOB I'm working with your suggest program now. It seems easy enough, if I'm using it correctly.

Thanks to everyone who gave their helpful suggestions!

I wouldn't bother with Nero at all.
